As a mentor of an FRC and FLL team I am constantly impressed with the entire FIRST program. As an educator I am always looking for ways to make learning active, hands on and real world experiential. As a coach of youth sports I have always striven to to build team mentality, sportsmanship and constructive competition skills. In FIRST I Get the best of both worlds. I truly believe students that are involved in the program are gaining skills, friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. In a era of world history, when it seems the world is becoming more and more divided FIRST stands out as a leader in bringing youth from all over the world together with common goals and dreams. My experience at the World Championships in Houston last year was both encouraging and humbling.
My experience as a mentor for the Stallion Robotics Team has been profoundly rewarding. It is remarkable to witness the academic and social growth of these young students as they apply themselves tirelessly to a common goal. By providing a positive environment that encourages teamwork, curiosity, gracious professionalism, and coopertition Mr. Donovan has contributed immensely to these student’s preparation for college and beyond. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as a mentor, and look forward to supporting this amazing team as they continue to strive for success together.
