The Mechanical department is in charge of making and maintaining all of the physical components of the robot. This entails the preliminary designing and prototyping of the robot through assembly of the robot and maintenance it may require. There are four subdivisions under the Mechanical department : CAD/Design, Assembly, Manufacturing, and Quality Control.
Responsible for working together with all of the electrical and mechanical division officers to design all renders and robot components in Autodesk.
Responsible for assembling different components or parts of semi-finished or finished products, so as to deliver a product which is ready to be tested.
Responsible for machining any parts responsible for robot fabrication based on the design instructions. These students utilize traditional and technological methods, including CNC and 3D printing, to craft each part of the robot.
Responsible for communicating with the entire Mechanical Department to ensure that the robot is built optimally and efficiently, and responsible for checking CAD designs and the dimensions of manufactured parts.
